Following the talk on the Llangorse Textile find, the theme of the day continued after lunch with a session on braid weaving, also lead by Louise Mumford from the National Museum of Wales.
Louise told us that examination of the Llangorse Textile fragments had revealed braiding had been used to embellish the garment along the seams and hems.
Following a short overview of different types of braiding Louise demonstrated some different braiding techniques which Guild members were then able to try for themselves. We were joined for this lively session by other Guild Members from Brecon, Gwent, Hereford and Pembrokeshire. A thoroughly enjoyable day had by all!
