Rising to the "Double Weave, Weave Along Challenge"!
Some of our Weavers have recently challenged themselves to learn the art of Double Weave. Working alongside each other in a weave along exercise to produce a double weave sampler, they have now finished warping their looms and have begun weaving. Double weave is a textile technique that involves weaving two separate layers of fabric simultaneously on the same loom. This method allows for creating a fabric with two independent layers that can remain separate, be joined on one

School Visit to Guild
We were delighted to welcome pupils from Dosbarth 4 at Llangynidyr Community Primary School to a Guild meeting recently. They enjoyed seeing demonstrations of Spinning and Weaving. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm and they asked lots of great questions. We are now working with the school to arrange future activities.

A great Silk Spinning Workshop
Our "Wonder of Silk" day continued with a fantastic hands on, silk spinning workshop lead by Sue Hiley Harris. Sue demonstrated very ably, different techniques for spinning with silk tops, silk caps and hankies and silk noils. Our spinners and visiting spinners from neighbouring Gwent and Brecknock Guilds had a lot of fun trying their hand with these. We also enjoyed spending some of our pennies on the lovely range of silk fibres that Sue had brought along for us to try. Than

Sue covered the different types of silk moth and types of cultivated and wild silk. She illustrated her talk with some det

Some of our Members have responded to this call out and have been busy knitting these adorable little hats for premature newborn babies. We thought we'd share the pattern and details of where to send them in case anyone else would like to take part and help.

Our AGM "Finished" off very nicely!!
We recently had a v busy and enjoyable day in Guild with our AGM, followed by a delicious bring and share lunch. After lunch we were treated to an excellent talk on "Finishing" woven fabrics by Guild Member, Sally based on the work of Laura Fry. Sally had taken a lot of trouble to weave samples of cloth using different fibres ( plant and animal based) and showed them in their unfinished, semi finished and fully finished states and explained the process she had applied to each
